Week 2 is upon us and we all have slightly a better idea of how things are going to play out this season. Their were some surprises in week 1 like Marcus Mariota & Carlos Hyde. Of course, at the same time there were some things that looked ugly, such as everything Oakland Raiders & many low scorers like OBJ & AP. Now that we have a week 1 under our belt we feel a little more sure about the ways things are going to play out. Don’t be the guy who gambles everything on how week 1 went though. Many things were flukes, some guys had their season high games and others, their worst games of the year. Below is a list of three players I would keep off any lineup, regardless of league size/rules.
QB: Tyrod Taylor, BUF
The first thing your saying to yourself is…Tyrod Taylor?!? Seriously though, he had a good week 1 and you know how sports fans are so quick to try and find the next big thing. New England’s defense wasn’t great last week, and in walks the Buffalo Bills after trouncing the Colts last week. Tyrod is the hot hand that many fantasy teams will start this week, I personally don’t like the idea. Bill Belichick lives for moments like these, young QB, cocky head coach, seems like the perfect recipe for a disaster. I believe in Tyrod, and the Buffalo Bills for that matter. With so many good match ups this week for QB’s, I’m gonna have to sit out the Tyrod Taylor party this weekend but invite me again next weekend and maybe I can fit it in my schedule.
RB: Alfred Morris, WASH
Do you have Alfred Morris in your starting lineup this week? You do realize the Rams are coming to town, right? Your not going to see many D-Lines as stout as the Rams have. They have been an absolutely relentless D-Line that brings it play after play. I like Morris, but like every other player, every single week, its about match ups. This week is not a good one for him, nor do I like the Redskins chances in general. Do yourself a favor and bench Morris this week if your other options allow you too. Another caveat with Morris, I’m a big fan of his backup Matt Jones and I am concerned as the season goes on Jones will get more and more carries as the Redskins staff become big fans as well. When Morris has his next big game, it might not be a terrible idea to shop him if you can get great value in return.
WR: Sammy Watkins, BUF
Two Buffalo players made the list this week, no I’m not a Patriots fan and no I’m not a Buffalo hater. Makes sense if I am going to not like Taylor this week, that I’m probably not Watkins biggest fan either in week 2. Last week was rough for Watkins , not even one catch type of rough. There is a ton of Sammy Watkins believers out there and there is no doubting he has great talent. He put on a hell of a show last season, so we all know what he is capable of when he is actually catching the ball. Like I stated earlier with Taylor, I just don’t see Buffalo having much success through the air this week. One positive note on Watkins, if you like him and he stinks it up, you may be able to buy him for the low in week 3. Have Watkins ride the pine in week 2 and maybe things will start looking up for him soon after.
