All Top 10 List are obviously opinion based as no two people will likely ever agree on what belongs there. We’re starting this new article series where we’ll bring you our Top 10 List from all different fields. Our first Top 10 List as you see is our Top 10 Nintendo Games for the original classic NES. The games on this all found there way here through different reasoning like game play, story, level of fun and of course nostalgia. I will have more NES games list with more specific criteria, this one is a Top 10 Nintendo Games overall list. Enough talking about the damn list, lets just jump right too it.
#10 – Blaster Master
If you played this game the first thing that comes to mind is the theme music. I loved the music for this game as I did many classic NES games. Blaster Master was fun, had different types of styles that you played in game and of course you had a bad-ass vehicle. The fact that this game comes in at #10 just tells you how good the rest of the list will be.
#9 – Double Dragon 2
We had to have at least one jumping, kicking, punching type game in the Top 10 List. Double Dragon 2 just stuck with me and was more enjoyable then either 1 or 3. Decent story-line & fun bad guys to whoop ass on place Double Dragon 2 within our Top 10.
#8 – Jackal
Here we have a game I feel gets no love. I’ve never overheard people talking about Jakal when talking about the games they use to love on NES. Well if you fail to mention Jackal then I am going to presume you’ve never played the game in your life which makes your life a failure. OK, not really…but IF you have not played Jackal then go out and play it now!
#7 – Crystalis
The first RPG to make the list! Now not everyone plays RPG’s and I understand that, however they are a fun style of game to get into. Crystalis is fun, great game graphics for this era and like any good RPG sucks you into the story. Crystalis is more than worthy of being #7 on the list.
#6 – Kirby’s Adventure
Man oh man what a fun game Kirby’s Adventure is! This cute little ball of air can sure become a beast in the matter of no time! Kirby has this cool ability to be able to literally suck his enemy in and obtain there power. Kirby is a flat out enjoyable game to play with good theme music, unique challenges & entertaining to people of all ages.
#5 – Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out
Landing at #5 on our list is Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out. If you’ve played this game then you know how great it was to try and learn each boxers styles in your attempt to reach Mike Tyson. Getting to Iron Mike was tough enough, beating him was a whole other story. This game should be burned into the memory of anyone who had this classic console and probably still remembers how to beat each fighter.
#4 – Mega Man 2
Another NES game where I decide to go with the 2nd game over the 1st and the 3rd and that’s just the way it goes sometimes. First off this cover art on the box does not do the character any justice. Maybe I’m just so use to the character they started showing on the 3rd box and later but Mega Man is way more cooler then the dude on that cover. Mega Man will forever go down as an NES classic game.
#3 – River City Ransom
Here’s a game that I feel like all the hardcore Nintendo console players had and loved. Yet I feel like the majority of gamers don’t know what this one is but I could be wrong. River City Ransom had tons of things going for it like it’s story, the cool system where you were able to getting strong and more skilled and of course the part where you ran around kicking ass all day. River City Ransom is #3 on the Top 10 Nintendo Games list for strong reasons.
#2 – Super Mario Bro’s 3
On every Nintendo list you check out or hear about this game will be #1 on many, hell no question at least top 5. Super Mario Bros 3 makes it to #2 on my list and the only way to feel about that is proud. This game does everything you need it too. Good soundtrack, great game-play, plenty of challenges within the game. This game literally does not disappoint no matter how hard you look for a problem. If not for nostalgia purposes, this game would likely be rocking the #1 crown right now.
#1 – Dragon Warrior
And then there was 1! Dragon Warrior IV is one of the games I lend literal credit to for helping me learn reading, comprehension and imagination from at a very young age. I became hooked on role playing games at a very young age and the Dragon Warrior series was an important part of that. This game is packed with great characters, storyline, music, enemies, anything you can ask for in a RPG, it has it! If you want to get your hands on this game now you are looking to pay a decent price tag as the game has been a fan favorite and there aren’t tons of copies floating around like many other games.
That’s it for the Top 10 Nintendo Games List! It’s important to remember that we all have our own opinions & perceptions and I laid my out above. If you disagree with any of the games or order they are in above then let me know in the comments below or hit us up on Twitter @clockdodgers. Also feel free to mention subjects/topics for future Top 10 List & we’ll try to squeeze them in as well. Have fun with the submissions, make them fun & challenging.
