Many drafts are being completed this weekend so here is a quick list of deep sleepers for you to keep in mind when the bullets are flying late in your draft. If you are in a 12-team or more league these picks are guys you want to keep your eyes on. Once they fall to that sweet spot you snatch em’ up and let everyone else question the move. Let them know they will see that name again real soon, when one of these sneaky draft picks are starting for your championship contending team. Let them laugh in the draft and by the end of season you’ll be laughing all the way to the bank!
Matt Jones, RB, WASH
Many fantasy owners don’t believe in Alfred Morris, and you could probably say the same thing about the Washington Redskins feelings towards him. Maybe that’s a little harsh, but I honestly don’t feel they have 100% faith in him. Gruden and his staff have tried to make this roster they inherited there’s, starting with ridding themselves of Robert Griffin. Morris is a FA after this season and I just don’t get the feeling they will be willing to pay big for him like another team will. In comes Matt Jones. He has played great the whole preseason and really looks the part. He will start the season as Morris’s backup, that’s not questions. But if Morris gets hurt, or if Gruden is ready to make the move late in the season after a slow start for the Redskins then Jones could catch fire. Don’t wait until he gets hot and you have to compete with all the other waiver wire teams to pick him up. Get him late in your draft and stash him.
Tyler Lockett, WR, SEA
Two reasons you should be drafting Lockett. Reason #1…Doug Baldwin. Reason #2…Jermaine Kearse. Yup, the two starting WR’s for the Seahawk’s are the exact reason why you need to grab Lockett. Well, it’s one of the reasons but their is more where that came from. If you watched him in college or seen some preseason action of his then you know Lockett has speed to burn. He flies past defenders like he’s the only one of his side of the field. The Seahawk’s have a great RB and a new TE in Graham who can stretch the middle of the field so Lockett will get his opportunities to make big plays. Imagine if one of the starting WR’s get injured. This is not something that anybody wants to see happen, but if so, expect big results from Lockett to follow.
Oakland Raiders Defense
Right here in the article is where I will lose many readers but yes, I stand by this call. The Raiders defense under new head coach Jack Del Rio look legit. I know we are all use to the Raiders defense being a laughing stock in the NFL but they have some very talented players they stockpiled over the last couple of years. Leading the way is Khalil Mack, who flashed last season but if you have watched any of the preseason you noticed how he was in the backfield on almost every down he played. He will be a menace all season long and it will be contagious for the rest of the guys on the team. He along with other additions like DT Dan Williams will free other defenders to make big plays. Remember, nobody on this list is an early draft pick or expected by most to make any noise in fantasy football this season. That’s what makes them deep sleepers of course. So while nobody is talking about the Raiders defense, it’s your chance to take advantage of the situation. Even when the Raiders play good it goes unnoticed for the most part, because many are conditioned to believe they aren’t very good as recent history has made up there minds for them. Let the Raiders sack your competition this season and lead you to the fantasy football throne.
