Nate Diaz to face Conor McGregor

Well that was fast. Less than 24 hours after hearing that Rafael Dos Anjos had pulled out of his fight with Conor McGregor due to injury, we have now found out that Nate Diaz will take his place!

Those who don’t know any better will likely be disappointed to know Conor is not fighting for a new belt in 2 weeks. But hear me out, this fight has the potential to be one for the ages. Anyone who has been a fan of the UFC for even just the last few years know how the Diaz brothers get down and of course everyone knows Conor’s antics all too well. The jawing that will go back and forth leading up to the fight between McGregor & Diaz will be worth it in itself. These two are top of the line entertainers who will get the hype training rolling fast & strong.

When talking about the actual fight itself, the simple fact that Conor is moving up two weight classes to fight Diaz is crazy. How many fighters, let alone champs in their division, move up two weight classes to fight a guy on less than 2 weeks notice?! Conor knows this fight can be huge and will sell tickets, plain and simple. Sure this fight card lost a bit of its luster when we found out Conor would not be fighting for a chance to win a second belt. However, fighting Diaz is nothing to ignore and will be great for the fans.

In the rare case that you are not familiar with Diaz and how he feels about Conor, check out the quote from Diaz after he won his last UFC fight.

(see video at end of article)

Fuck that,” Diaz said. “Conor McGregor, you’re taking everything I worked for, mother fucker. I’m gonna fight your fucking ass. You know what’s the real fight, what’s the real money fight — me. Not these clowns that you already punked at the press conference. Ain’t nobody wants to see that. You know you can beat them already. It’s an easy fight. You want the real shit. Right here.

I do want to mention that Cowboy Cerrone, who many thought would be the replacement for Dos Anjos, did accept the fight vs McGregor but the UFC decided to go with Diaz instead. Hopefully we will still see the day when Conor gets to square off against Cowboy as that would be an awesome fight as well.

Conor McGregor vs Nate Diaz…I’m still trying to let it sink in…if nothing else, this is going to be a good time!
