“15 Minute Break” w/Comedian Kimberly Congdon

We are closing out 2015 with one of our favorite “15 Minute Break” Interviews yet. This week’s interview is with rising comedian Kimberly Congdon! You’ve likely heard of her from many different podcast which she mentions in the interview itself or if you’ve been to the Comedy Store in LA as of late.
If you’ve never heard of Kim, or never heard any of her comedy, it’s about time you make that happen.

Personally, the thing I like about Kim is not only that she’s funny on stage, but also on podcast, in roast battles and even on Twitter.

(The social media platform that many comedians seem to struggle with when it comes to dropping jokes within the 140 character limit.)
Kim is down to earth, she’s smart, and she’s obviously attractive. Most of all Kimberly Congdon is an hilarious, up & coming comedian that is deservedly earning her props in stand-up comedy circles and now she has stopped by to speak with us at Clock Dodgers on our end of the year “15 Minute Break” Interview.

What are you most proud of achieving in 2015?

I feel like I’ve done so many cool things this year. I’ve performed in front of some of the greatest comedians in the world on KILL TONY, I’ve been on amazing podcast like GETTING DOUG WITH HIGH and JOE ROGAN EXPERIENCE but by far my favorite moment was opening a sold out theater for Joe Rogan last Friday night.

  1. What is one goal you have for 2016?

Not really. I just want to continue to work hard and focus on writing and getting on more stages.

  1. They say all comedians have a dark side, do you agree and why do you think this is so?

People in general have dark sides. Comedians are just people.

________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Who are your 3 biggest influences in comedy?

Sarah Silverman, Anthony Jeselnik, and Louis CK. He was the first comedian I ever watched, so him as well.

________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Women in comedy seem to be making a real surge. Do you think it’s harder being a woman in comedy?

Nah, I just think there are less of us. Put 100 comedians in a box, 80 of them will be men, and 5 of those will be funny men. 20 will be women and 1 will be funny. I think it’s only unfunny women that have problems in comedy.

  1. You are originally from FL, did you move to Los Angles to pursue comedy or something else?

I was originally just visiting la for a summer internship and started hanging out at the comedy store. After a couple weeks I decided to get onstage and got 2 spots at THE COMEDY STORE in the same night. One was an open mic and the other was KILL TONY. I fell in love with the idea of being a comedian after that first night and called my UF college adviser the next morning to announce that I would be dropping out of my last year in college.

  1. You’re known to handle yourself well in roast battles. What is it about comedy roast battles that you enjoy?

I’m a nice person but I’m very good at writing mean.

________________________________________________________________________________

  1. What is your definition of success?

Being happy.

  1. At Clock Dodgers we like to push others to follow their passions, any advice to those people?

Anyone can do anything. It sounds cliché but it works if you aren’t a lazy asshole. Don’t tell people about your ideas, just do them.

________________________________________________________________________________

  1. You recently made some people angry on Twitter when you brought up gun control. Why do you think gun control talk gets people so upset?

I think people hear the word “gun control” and instantly assume you are against gun or the right to bear arms. That’s not true. I like to push for stricter rules in order to get guns/ammo, that’s all. I believe in making things safer. I’m a monster.

________________________________________________________________________________

  1. What is your opinion on the possibility of Trump being elected President?

I don’t think it’s funny and it’s pretty upsetting to think about the possibility of our president being a racist, evil, cunt.

________________________________________________________________________________

  1. What app on your phone do you use the most and why?

TWITTER! It’s my first place to test out a joke!

________________________________________________________________________________

  1. You’re stuck on an island. Name 3 people you’d want with you.

A fisherman, a construction worker, and this dude I slept with once that was so good in bed.

________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Expensive date or Netflix & chill?

If it’s someone I like, I’d rather stay in. 🙂
