Ford Ecoboost 400 will be the Final race of the year and it has all come down to this. Who will be crowned the Monster Energy Cup Champion at Homestead-Miami Speedway? It’s also Dale Earnhardt Jrs last race, after seeing all these videos this week reflecting back on Jrs career, I get emotional and I’m not afraid to admit it. I was a huge Earnhardt fan growing up until the tragic accident that took place in 2001 at Daytona, many of his fans gravitated towards Jr, but I went with Harvick. I don’t believe anyone in NASCAR dislikes Dale Jr and it’s been a pleasure to watch him race. The following we see in JR nation, I don’t think any NASCAR driver will ever have a following like that. Thanks for the Memories Jr!
Top tier – GPP & Cash
Martin Truex Jr – ($11,100)
Big surprise here, the favorite for the championship. Martin qualified 2nd and was on the pole until Denny Hamlin came out and stole the pole from him on his last run in qualifying. He will still dominate Sunday. In happy hour Martin posted the 2nd fastest 10 lap average. In 12 career races at Homestead, Truex has 3 top 5’s, 7 top 10’s, and has led 111 laps. Lock and load Mile and Half Martin this week.
Kyle Busch – ($10,500)
He captured his first title in 2015, and he will look to capture his second championship Sunday. He qualified 3rd, and posted the fastest 10 lap average in happy hour. In 12 career races at Homestead. Kyle has 1 win, 2 top 5’s, 5 top 10’s, and has led 279 laps.
Mid Tier – GPP
Kevin Harvick – ($9,700)
He is part of the championship 4, he qualified 9th after getting Way loose in his last round of qualifying. It will be hard for “The Closer” to find the speed to keep up with the Toyotas, but he did post the 4th fastest 10 lap average in Happy hour. In 16 career races at Homestead, Harvick has 1 win, 8 top 5’s, 14 top 10’s, he owns the best driver rating out of all the championship 4 at Homestead.
Kyle Larson – ($9,500)
In this range I think you have to make a choice between Harvick and Larson. Kyle Larson would have been the favorite if he would have made it to Homestead, by far his best track and a track known for running the high line. Who loves to runs the wall? Kyle Larson. In 4 career races at Homestead, Larson has 2 top 5’s, 2 top 10’s, and led a 135 laps.
Dark Horses – GPP
Jamie McMurray – ($7,700)
I can’t remember the last time McMurray was priced in this range, but at this price I will jump on him. In 15 career races at Homestead, Jamie has 3 top 5’s, and 5 top 10’s, Jamie will make for a great value play this week.
Ty Dillon – ($6,900)
He has been the best value play all year long, and it’s not going to change for this week. He qualified 32nd, and posted the 16th fastest 10 lap average in happy hour. He will make for a great place differential play.
Other Top tier drivers to consider:
Brad Keslowski – ($9,900)
Chase Elliott – ($9,400)
Joey Logano – ($9,200)
Other Mid tier drivers to consider:
Denny Hamlin – ($8,900)
Clint Bowyer – ($8,500)
Erik Jones – ($8,100)
Other Value Drivers to consider:
Dale Earnhardt Jr- ($7,800)
Ryan Newman – ($7,600)
Ricky Stenhouse J – ($7,500)
