If you don’t know by now, Elon Musk is my hero. He is by far one of the most influential people of our time & nobody can question his ambition. Elon Musk is one of the guys who I never question his ideas. Why would I? He’s proved over and over that his ideas are realistic and he’s never shied away from the challenges his lofty goals present. It’s been said before, but in many ways Elon Musk is our real-life Tony Stark (Iron Man). Elon recently spoke at the Code Conference with Kara Swisher & Walt Mossberg and he said some very interesting things. For one, he states that we are highly likely in a simulation of some sort. See below:
“So it’s a given that we’re clearly on a trajectory to have games that are indistinguishable from reality, and those games could be played on any set-top box or a PC and there would probably be billions of such computers and settop boxes, it would seem to follow that the odds that we’re in base reality is one in billions. Tell me what’s wrong with that argument?“
As you can see, Elon is not joking in the clip above. This is a man who thinks outside the box and doesn’t fall in line with the average person’s thinking. Elon thinks big picture, and while many people will watch this video and think he’s crazy, it must not be forgotten that this is the same man who has created Tesla & SpaceX. Both companies with ideas that at one point or another many would say weren’t possible. Elon Musk is the real deal folks and if you think otherwise, shame on you. Elon Musk is a dreamer, but not only is he a dreamer, he’s also a man who gets things done.
If you don’t agree with Elon’s predictions for our future, that’s OK. However, we could all learn a lot from Elon and others like him. See guys like Elon never lose the passion to dream. Somewhere in our lives many of us lose the ability to dream when we get a job, then get married, have kids, etc. We tend to get swept up in the day to day mentality of the 9-5 lifestyle and become comfortable. Let me be clear that their is nothing with the standard American way of life. Hell, we’ve all been taught since we were little that this is the way we are supposed to do it. Yet, guys like Elon exist, ones who push the limits and who dream beyond what others call “realistic”. So although you have a family & a 9-5 job, it doesn’t mean you are done.
In closing, even if Elon’s theory about us being nothing more then video game characters is wrong, you can still “level up”. Think back to when you use to play Super Mario Bro’s (or like me, still do), remember when you got the mushroom you became bigger? That’s who you are right now, big Mario, and that’s OK. But never forget, Mario could also grab the flower, the leaf or the star and become better then just big Mario, and so can you.
Keep dreaming, keep improving, keep LIVING.
