You ready for the latest weight loss craze? The workout everyone has been talking about? Do you want to see immediate results in a matter of days? Well, you came to the right place!
Ok…it’s not that serious. But I did recently go on a family trip to Disney for my sons 4th birthday and that’s when I realized it. You have to be in shape to really enjoy the parks as an adult. Not weight lifter or body builder competition shape…but…Disney Shape. Let me preface this by saying, I don’t understand those who say “Disney gets old”. I loved it when I was a kid, and I still enjoy it as an adult who has kids of his own now. But being at Disney World as an adult with kids is a very different experience then it is when you were a kid yourself. As we walked around the entire park for what felt like 10 times over, I started to realize, this is becoming a workout. Not a real workout by any stretch of the imagination, but it was physical. I was finally that guy carrying a kid around all day, pushing a stroller, standing in hour long lines for rides that are not even 2 minutes long once you actually get on the damn thing. As I carried my son during one of the shows towards the end of the night, I was really starting to feel it. I, by no means, am in tip-top shape, but who knew Walt Disney had accidentally created a workout plan that would put the average lazy American to the test.
I seen some guest sweating like dogs, some dragging there feet, and some taking breaks on any bench or nearby seating they could find. Hell, I even seen one guy sleeping on one of the benches he found in the shade. I still have NO clue how you can fall asleep in Disney World, with all the people and noise, but he did it! It’s supposed to be one of the happiest places on Earth so why would you want to sleep through it? Too each there own I guess.
I say this very light heartily, as obviously it’s not really a struggle for the average person to enjoy Disney World. I’m more so pointing out the huge difference in going to Disney as a kid and then as an adult. Physically and mentally its a different experience and that’s ok. As any parent knows, you live to see your children happy and Disney never fails to do just that. So if your planning a trip to Disney make sure you strap on your knee brace, put on sunscreen and take an extra dose of supplements. You have a very long day ahead of you that no gym could of conditioned you for. Everything is just as magical as it was when you there for the first time as a kid. It’s just this time your going to need some Tylenol when you get back to the hotel. Man…I miss being a kid.
